No such luck.....

...So we sort of got our hopes up that the ultrasound today would allow us to finally have a confirmed date for Max's arrival. Unfortunately no. Good news is Max is NOT breach like they thought last week. He is head down according to the ultrasound. Everything looked very good on the US, and they estimate he weighs about 7 lbs 7 ounces right now, which the doctor says is perfectly normal for this stage in the pregnancy (38 weeks). I do have a couple of pictures, but they are kind of hard to see. I will try to get them scanned in and post them as soon as I can.

So after we found out at the ultrasound that he is in fact head down, we were at least hoping for a little bit of dilation...no such luck there either. Still ZERO centimeters dilated. This little guy (well, starting to be big guy) is just in no hurry to come out. I'm trying really hard not to be upset about it, but they really had our hopes up last week that we might get to meet him in the next week or so. Oh well! We'll see what happens now!

Keep us in your prayers - these next few days/weeks could start to get very long and hard. I'm already finding it very hard to sleep, and work is definitely no fun at this point. Fingers crossed for some progress over the next week...

Have a good weekend!

First Video Try...

So we got our new video camera, and I wanted to see if I am capable of posting a video. This video, which will hopefully load for everyone, is just a little video of the nursery since my mom worked her magic this weekend and cleaned. Here goes...

I forgot to mention in yesterday's post that we met with our pediatrician and potential babysitter yesterday. We picked the pediatrician, Dr. Shepherd, because he's at a practice we liked and we discovered that he graduated from Ole Miss med school. Turns out after meeting him that he did his undergrad at MS State, and he's a big State fan...but we decided to forgive him for it.

We also met Ms. Wanda, potentially Max's babysitter. She lives just down the street from us, and has tons of experience keeping babies. She will only have 1 other baby at the same time as Max, and a 4-year old for 2 days this summer only. So we believe he will get a lot of individual attention, which we love. We're about 90% sure she is who we will go with, but we'll continue to keep our eyes and ears open for something even more perfect.

We've had a very productive last few days, all in all. More soon!!

37 Weeks...

Happy Friday! So we had a very interesting dr appointment yesterday. First, I had to see the nurse practitioner because my doctor was on vacation. She had an assistant working with her, who apparently wasn't very adept at taking blood pressure. The first 2 times she took it, it read something like 140/90. She had me rest for about 10 minutes before the "real" nurse came in and took it. This time it read 110/84...much better. The nurse practitioner said there is no way it would have dropped that much in such a small amount of time, so we believe her reading was more accurate.

Then the NP had to check to see if I was dilated. Not only was I not dilated, but my cervix (sorry for the gory details) wasn't even down low enough for her to really check. So she started pressing on my belly (not fun, by the way) and told me she's almost positive his head is up near my rib cage, instead of down like it should be...otherwise known as breach. She said there is a chance he could still turn, but most likely at this point he is too big to get to head down position very easily. SO.....they are doing another ultrasound next Thursday to see exactly what position he is in. If he's still breach, they will most likely schedule a c-section for the following week! We could very easily have an April fool's baby!! I'm OK with a scheduled c-section. It's not the most ideal situation, but at least I would have a date to look forward to instead of the great unknown! And it's definitely better than waiting to go into labor and having to have an emergency c-section because he hasn't moved into position yet. I'm also super excited that we get to have another ultrasound next week! It's so much fun to get to see him on the monitor - just wish it was in person!!

My mom and dad are here this weekend helping us get ready. And boy did we need their help!! The nursery looked like a clothes bomb had exploded in it (if any of you knew me in high school, it much resembled my room at home...a pattern, maybe?). We've already gotten a lot done (well, really my mom got a lot done while I was forced to sit in a chair and watch), and it's looking much better. I'm starting to feel a lot more ready than before. They also brought our rocker/glider & ottommon (sp?), which are WONDERFUL! Can't wait to spend hours rocking Max in it. I'll get some pictures of the (almost) finished nursery and post them next time. Matt & my dad are working on putting together all the fun things like the pack'n'play and swing today, while Mom & I have a long shopping list to fulfill to finish getting the last few things we need.

Hope you all have had a wonderful week, and will have a great weekend. More soon!!

36 Weeks!

...4 to go...we hope anyway! Actually I wish it was more like 2 weeks to go, but Max doesn't seem to be cooperating. We had our first doctor appointment today where she checked to see how much (if any) dilated I am. Big, fat ZERO centimeters so far. She said not to let it worry us, that the dilation can happen all at one time or may be spread out over the next few weeks. My blood pressure was perfect again, and Max is back to measuring right on target (for a while he had been measuring a couple of weeks ahead). I don't think my wished-for date of March 28 is very realistic at this point, but we'll see! :)

We're think we're pretty close to ready for Max's arrival. We've gotten so many clothes and diapers and wipes and other fun stuff. The nursey will be complete after my parents come to visit next weekend and bring our rocker/glider. I've actually MOSTLY got my bag packed for the hospital. Just need a couple more things and I'll be ready to go.

Matt and I were watching "A Baby Story" on TLC the other day and he said "I can't watch this anymore! I'm so jealous that these people get to meet their babies and we have to wait!" More than not being pregnant anymore because I'm uncomfortable, we're just so ready for it to be over so we can bring Max home and start being parents already!!

Hope you're all having a great week! Talk to you/see you soon! :)
